Dave “Doc” Thompson has been a professional fly fishing guide and outfitter since 1995 and has been an Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Guide since 2004.  He was honored as the 2006 Orvis Endorsed Guide of the Year and has been an Orvis Guide of the Year finalist in 2012, 2015 and 2017.  He has spent decades as a fly fishing guide and outfitter working with ranches, guest ranches and landowners to assess, manage and develop fly fishing programs.  He has been on the ground floor developing fly fishing programs for Orvis Endorsed Lodges and other prominent ranches in New Mexico and Southern Colorado. Through AW&L, he works with Private Market Ranches, LandRight and other select ranch service partners on recreational properties and ranches in Texas and New Mexico. He is active in the local community serving as a board member for Enchanted Circle Trout Unlimited, and with Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing providing physical and emotional rehabilitation to disabled military members and veterans through fly fishing and fly tying.
